Kluster (FKA mophie™) is a community-driven decision making software platform. The company was founded as mophie™ in 2005 while Ben Kaufman attended high school on Long Island, and relocated to Burlington, VT when he began attending Champlain College.
mophie developed value-added digital lifestyle accessories, but sold its product line to MStation in 2007. The company has since been renamed Kluster, and refocused its efforts on community-driven product design and decision making.
The company launched its software platform at the TED conference in February 2008. This concept evolved out of mophie's efforts at MacWorld in January 2007 when the team opened up its design efforts to conference attendees, sourcing, vetting and prototyping three new product ideas for the iPod market in three days.
Lee Bouyea, Managing Director of FreshTracks Capital, sits on the Board of Directors for Kluster.
