Brighter Planet is an early-stage firm firm located in Middlebury, VT. The Bright Card, Brighter Planet's flagship product, is an affinity credit card offering consumers carbon offsets based upon the volume of credit card purchases they make. It is similar in nature to credit cards that offer airline miles or rewards points, except Bright Card will instead purchase and retire carbon offsets generated by alternative energy production.

The company formally launched the Bright Card in conjunction with Bank of America and Visa in November 2007 at the Good & Green Conference in Chicago.
